Getting to Nanjing

Nanjing is one of the most well-connected cities in eastern China, with a modern aviation, railway, and highway network. Whether traveling domestically or internationally, you can reach the CIE 2027 venue—the Nanjing International Youth Conference Centre—via an efficient and convenient transportation system.

Nanjing’s main airport is Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG), located about 40 km southeast of the city center. Taking the metro, airport shuttle bus, or taxi to downtown Nanjing takes approximately 40 to 50 minutes.

If you need to transfer, the following airports are also viable options:

  • Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK): Located in Beijing, about 900 km from Nanjing.
  • Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA): Located in Shanghai, about 280 km from Nanjing.

You can choose to transfer from these cities to Nanjing by flight or switch to high-speed rail. China’s high-speed rail network is modern, comfortable, and punctual, connecting Nanjing closely with almost all major cities in the country. The high-speed rail journey from Beijing to Nanjing takes about 4 hours, and from Shanghai about 1 hour.

Nanjing has multiple railway stations, with Nanjingnan/Nanjing South Railway Station being the closest and most convenient for transfers to the venue. If traveling by high-speed rail, it is recommended to arrive at this station. For train schedules and bookings, please check the official China Railway website.

Getting from Nanjing Lukou International Airport (NKG) to the Conference Venue

Taxi

If you are unfamiliar with Nanjing or Chinese cities, a taxi is the most convenient option. The taxi queue at Lukou Airport is located outside the arrivals exit, operating 24/7. The ride to the venue takes about 40 minutes.

Please note: If mobile payments (e.g., Alipay, WeChat Pay) are not applicable, it is recommended to prepare approximately 200 CNY in cash to cover the taxi fare.

Metro

If you are comfortable using the metro, you can take Metro Line S1 (Airport Line) from Lukou Airport. Operating hours are approximately 6:00 to 22:40. The transfer route to the venue is as follows: Metro Line S1 (Lukou Airport) -> Nanjing South Railway Station -> Transfer to Metro Line S3 -> Yongchulu Station. After exiting, take a taxi or walk about 2 km to reach the venue (total about 70 minutes).

Nanjing’s road network is modern and efficient. However, considering circumstances such as driver’s license ineligibility or unfamiliarity with traffic regulations, we recommend prioritizing public transportation like taxis or the metro for a more convenient and worry-free journey. If your driver’s license is valid in China or you have a temporary driving permit, please also note the following while understanding China’s traffic rules:

  • Required items in the vehicle: A warning triangle and fire extinguisher are mandatory. It is also advisable to have a first-aid kit.
  • Highway tolls: Highways in and around Nanjing are toll roads. You will receive a toll card upon entry and pay upon exit.
  • Driving restrictions: During weekday morning and evening rush hours, vehicles with non-Nanjing license plates face travel restrictions on some main roads in the city center.
  • Navigation advice: It is recommended to use a reliable mobile map application for real-time navigation and restriction information.

After arriving at Nanjingnan/Nanjing South Railway Station, taking a taxi to the venue is recommended, with a travel time of about 20 minutes.

Metro

You can take Metro Line S3 from Nanjing South Railway Station. Operating hours are approximately 6:00 to 22:00. The route to the venue is as follows:

Metro Line S3 (Nanjing South Railway Station) -> Yongchulu Station.

After exiting, take a taxi or walk about 2 km to reach the venue (total about 45 minutes).
